About Standard Tier
Why This Exists
Martyn's Law, officially the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, requires venues with 200 or more capacity to have Public Protection Procedures in place and staff who know what to do in an emergency. The government has been clear that this shouldn't require consultants.
But if you're running a pub or a community hall and you've never written a security procedure in your life, it's still a lot to figure out on your own. That's why Standard Tier exists.
How It Started
Standard Tier started as a side project to help a family member sort out compliance for his bar. He didn't know what was actually required, so we built a tool that walked him through it.
He passed it to a friend who runs a live music venue. That friend passed it on to someone else. Turns out a lot of independent venue managers needed exactly this kind of thing.
What the Tool Does
You answer a set of questions about your venue: layout, exits, capacity, and what you already do for safety. The tool then generates a PPP document tailored to your specific premises. It covers evacuation, invacuation, lockdown, and communication procedures, drafted against the latest guidance. You still need to review the document, adapt anything that doesn't fit your venue, and make sure your staff actually know what to do — responsibility for adequacy under the Act sits with you, not the tool.
It then gives you a QR code that your staff scan on their phones. They watch a short training video, take a quiz, read your venue-specific PPP, and take a final quiz. Every completion is tracked automatically, so you always have an audit trail ready for inspectors.
That's it. No consultants, no expensive security assessments, no physical alterations to your building. Just the procedures and training the law actually requires.
Built for Independent Venues
Standard Tier is designed for the venues that need it most: pubs, restaurants, live music venues, theatres, community halls, and event spaces that don't have a compliance department. The kind of places where the manager is also the one dealing with suppliers, staff rotas, and everything else.
The pricing reflects that. One flat monthly fee covers your PPP, staff training, and ongoing audit trail. Typically less than the cost of a single consultation.
What's next
We're not taking on new users right now while we focus on our existing customers. If your venue has a capacity of 200 or more, you'll need to comply with Martyn's Law before enforcement begins in Spring 2027 — leave your email and we'll let you know when we reopen signups.
